Since 1919,
Junior League of Omaha (JLO) members have served our city by effectively
training volunteers, providing leadership, raising funds and developing
programs and services that make our community a better place to live, work and
raise a family. The first year in
Junior League, New Members aka Provisionals, are required to complete a training
course with both formal and hands-on elements to familiarize the new member
with the Junior League and the Omaha community.
Our by-laws
specify two main criteria for membership:
1.
A
candidate for membership shall be no younger than 21 by May 31 of the current
fiscal year.
2.
She
shall have resided in the Omaha metropolitan area as a resident for the six
months prior to May 31 of the current fiscal year of her proposal.
3.
A
candidate for membership shall demonstrate an interest in voluntarism, a
commitment to community service and an interest in developing her potential for
voluntary community participation. There shall be no deliberative process in
the admissions system. All candidates shall be informed of their prospective
membership.
4.
A
candidate for membership shall be informed of the privileges and
responsibilities of Junior League membership and shall agree to engage in
community service in connection with the program of this League.
Requirements
for a New Member/Provisional include the following:

Annual
Dues -
|
All
Provisional members must pay annual dues of $60 and fees of $75.
|

2.
JLO
Pillars -
|
All
Provisional members must complete the engagements listed within the three
pillars of the Junior League of Omaha.
Members will also be responsible for completing a set number of menu
selections to be determined on a yearly basis by each Council and approved by
the Board of Directors.

Fundraiser
5. ___ Purchase a $60 Junior League of Omaha
Fundraiser ticket or work two 3-hour shifts.
6. ___ Work six 3-hour My Closet shifts.
7. ___ Donate merchandise valued at $175 to My Closet
by your Quota Due Date.
Plus complete one (1) from the following menu selections in this
pillar:

Work one additional 3-hour fundraising shift

Donate to the JLO Foundation ($30 minimum donation)
___
Donate to the Annual Fund ($30 minimum donation)
___
Purchase two tickets to American Girl
___ Secure an auction item valued at $50 (in
accordance with Standing Rule I, number 7)

Secure a cash donation of $250 or more for Fund Development
After
completing the New Member/Provisional Training Year, each member becomes an
Active Member and the membership
requirements change.
