AJLI Kids In the Kitchen

The
Junior League of Omaha (JLO) puts Kids in the Kitchen each March during
National Nutrition Month. From the
kid's point of view, it's all about having a great time in the kitchen making
tasty food. But it's also about kids
getting what they need from what they eat.
Kids in the Kitchen happens in 230 cities during National Nutrition
Month.

The 3rd Annual Kids in the Kitchen (KIK)
is scheduled for Friday, March 7th at the Hy-Vee on 78th
and Cass from 5:30-7:30 pm. This
year we are teaming up with the Great Plains Girl Scouts Council.
Volunteer shift times
are 5-8 pm. To volunteer for the 3rd
Annual Kids in the Kitchen, please contact Tina Nelson or sign up at a general
meeting.

The JLO has
teamed up with various community partners in the past and last year Campfire
U.S.A. helped recruit fifty middle school 'chefs' for the experience. The
kids took part in a hands on cooking class with everything from kitchen
basics and staying safe to reading nutrition labels. No doubt the highlight
of the evening was a scavenger hunt in the store to learn just how many
unique, wholesome options are out there. The evening was capped off with a healthy
snack.
